Juma Spaces are very proud to premiere a unique collaboration between chef and author, Noor Murad, and trumpet player/composer, Yazz Ahmed, this coming November.
Noor has created a menu inspired by Yazz’s critically acclaimed 2025 album, A Paradise In The Hold, transforming the music into a multi-sensory experience.
Noor and Yazz have something in common. They share the same mixed heritage of Bahrain, the island of two seas, and Britain, which they each celebrate through their food and music respectively.
Yazz ~ “In 2020, thanks to Instagram (something I thought I’d never say!) I discovered the wonderful Noor Murad, whose recipes were shared all over the world. I felt so inspired to find that there was another British-Bahraini out there, creating work that reflected the same mixed heritage as myself. I felt I just had to reach out and make a connection as we had so much in common. I was so inspired by her stories and her delicious food, which really reminded me of my childhood, and I came up with an idea for a special collaboration.
I suggested to Noor that she might like to create a menu inspired by the music from A Paradise in The Hold, to create a multi-sensory experience in a supper club setting, and she loved the idea!
In an intimate evening of listening and tasting, we will present the music and the food, each explaining our creative process as we go through the menu.
All the tastes and sounds will reflect two journeys of self-discovery fuelled by improvisation and experimentation, both musical and culinary, and a deep passion for our art.
After the meal I will perform a short live set to bring the evening to a close whilst offering a relaxing cup of my Dawn Patrol tea.
We hope you enjoy this duet of sound and taste in a relaxed setting.
