Getting there
Getting to Brixton Academy
Victoria Line (direct — end of line)
Brixton is the southern terminus of the Victoria line. You literally cannot go past it. Direct from Victoria (6 min), Oxford Circus (10 min), King's Cross (15 min) and Highbury & Islington (20 min). One of the easiest venue trips in London.
2 min walk from station exitBus (great for South London)
Brixton has more buses than almost anywhere in South London. The 2, 3, 35, 37, 45, 59, 109, 118, 133, 159 and more all stop here. If you're coming from Streatham, Herne Hill, Clapham or other South London spots, the bus can be more direct than the tube.
Many routes serve BrixtonNight Tube (Fri & Sat nights)
Victoria line Night Tube runs all night on Fridays and Saturdays. Brixton is on it. If your show overruns or you want to stay for the full set, you don't need to worry about last trains. Every 10 minutes throughout the night.
No last-train stress on Fri/SatWalk from Stockwell (post-show hack)
Going home? Walk 10 minutes north to Stockwell rather than joining the Brixton post-show queue. Stockwell is quiet, the Victoria line is the same train, and you'll be moving while the Brixton crowd is still waiting to get through the gates.
Beat the post-show queueTiming & tactics
Arrive easy, leave smarter
Before the show
- 45 min before doors: Ideal — pubs on Brixton Road and Coldharbour Lane are buzzing
- At doors open: Fine — short walk from station, no stress
- After support act: You'll miss the support but the Victoria line is dead simple to catch late
After the show
- Walk to Stockwell: 10 min north, much shorter queue, same Victoria line train
- Wait 15 min in a bar: Electric Ave, Coldharbour Lane — brilliant Brixton bar scene
- Night Tube (Fri/Sat): Don't rush — all-night service means zero last-train stress
- ⚠ Brixton station direct: Fine but expect a queue on Brixton Road after busy shows
The Stockwell move
Walk 10 minutes up Brixton Road to Stockwell. You catch the exact same Victoria line train, the platform is calm, and you'll be on the tube while most people are still queuing to get into Brixton station.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Which tube station do I use for Brixton Academy?
Brixton (Victoria line) — it's directly outside the venue, literally a 2-minute walk. You exit the station onto Brixton Road and the Academy is right there. It doesn't get more straightforward than this for a 5,000-capacity venue.
How long does it take to leave Brixton after a show?
Brixton station is small and Brixton Road gets very congested post-show. The tube itself is fine once you're on it — but getting into the station can involve a queue on Brixton Road when 5,000 people all leave at once. Walking up to Stockwell (10 min north) means you catch the Victoria line before the crowd and often find a seat.
Is there a Night Tube to Brixton?
Yes — Brixton is the southern terminus of the Victoria line Night Tube. On Friday and Saturday nights trains run every 10 minutes throughout the night. If your show finishes after midnight on a Fri/Sat, you can stay as long as you like and still get the tube home. On weeknights check the last train time — it's typically around midnight.
Can I get a bus to Brixton Academy?
Brixton has excellent bus connections — the 2, 3, 35, 37, 45, 59, 109, 118, 133, 159, 250 and P5 all serve the area. Buses are a great option if you're coming from South London destinations not on the Victoria line. They get crowded post-show but keep running late.
Is Brixton station accessible?
Brixton station does not currently have step-free access from street to platform. The lifts are not available. If you require step-free access, contact the O2 Academy directly for accessibility advice — they have arrangements for accessible entry and seating.
What is the best route from Central London to Brixton Academy?
Victoria line direct from Victoria (6 min), Oxford Circus (10 min), King's Cross (15 min) or Highbury & Islington (20 min). Brixton is the end of the line — you literally cannot miss your stop. It's one of the easiest venue trips in London.
