Getting there

Four ways to Wembley Stadium

🟣

Jubilee Line (direct)

The Jubilee line runs direct to Wembley Park from Bond Street (18 min), Westminster (20 min), Waterloo (25 min) and London Bridge (28 min). No changes needed from most Central London stations. Trains run every 3–5 minutes pre-event.

Direct — no changes needed
🟣

Metropolitan Line (direct)

Direct from Baker Street (15 min), King's Cross (22 min) and Farringdon. The Metropolitan line shares Wembley Park station with the Jubilee — ideal if coming from northwest London or the City. Trains less frequent than Jubilee.

Best from Baker St & King's Cross
🟠

London Overground / Bakerloo

Wembley Central (15 min walk) is served by Overground and Bakerloo. This station is significantly quieter than Wembley Park post-event — ideal if you're coming from Harrow, Stonebridge Park, or Hackney. Best exit strategy after events.

Quieter — great post-event
🚆

National Rail (Marylebone)

Wembley Stadium station (5-minute walk) is served by Chiltern Railways from London Marylebone — the closest station to the ground. Only 2 trains per hour but dramatically less crowded than the tube. Perfect if travelling from northwest London or the Home Counties.

Only 2 trains/hr — check timetable

Timing & tactics

Beat the Wembley crowds

Before the event

  • 2+ hrs before (internationals): Relaxed journey — Olympic Way clear, pubs open
  • 90 min before (concerts/NFL): Comfortable arrival — trains busy but manageable
  • 60 min before: Olympic Way getting busy — trains congested from Central London
  • 30 min before: Olympic Way gridlocked — risk of missing start
  • 15 min before: Extremely congested — not recommended

After the event

  • Best option: Walk 15 min to Wembley Central (Bakerloo/Overground) — much shorter queues
  • Option 2: Wait 45–60 min at Boxpark or a pub — Wembley Park queues clear eventually
  • Option 3: National Rail from Wembley Stadium station — only 2/hr but very quiet
  • ⚠ Avoid: Wembley Park immediately after — police hold crowds, 45+ min queues

Insider tip: the Finchley Road hack

Pre-event, boarding the Jubilee line at Finchley Road (rather than further east) often means you get a seat — trains from Central London are already packed by the time they reach Baker Street.

Jubilee line — east London warning

If travelling from east London (Stratford, Canary Wharf, London Bridge), the Jubilee line gets extremely crowded well before Wembley Park. Allow an extra 20–30 minutes and consider standing room only from London Bridge onwards on big event days.
